Guru Prasad

I am a technical founder exploring what comes next at the intersection of AI and developer productivity. After 20 years of building distributed systems, payment platforms, and AI infrastructure at enterprise scale, I am now focused on the problems I kept running into but could never fully solve inside a large organization.

I write about the shifting relationship between engineers and AI tools, with a focus on what changes (and what stays the same) as AI becomes part of the daily workflow. The writing here reflects the problem spaces I care about most deeply.

What I bring to the table

At Microsoft (Cloud + AI), I led technical strategy for critical datacenter infrastructure services, including power capping, sub-synchronous oscillation detection, and telemetry ingestion at hyperscale. I drove AI adoption across a 600-developer organization, building frameworks that make any repository AI-agent ready in minutes and architecting multi-agent systems for automated production incident investigation.

At Microsoft Whiteboard and Teams, I shipped Copilot for Microsoft Whiteboard, bringing LLM-powered collaboration to millions of users across Web, iOS, Android, Surface Hub, and Microsoft Teams Rooms.

At Expedia Group, I led a team building the global payment platform: a vault managing 500M+ payment instruments across 20+ brands, with a tokenization architecture that reduced PCI footprint and saved $4M/year in infrastructure costs. I also led the SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) implementation for European regulatory compliance.

Before that, I built healthcare data services at Premera BlueCross and enterprise telecom applications at Accenture.

Technical depth

Python, C#/.NET, Java, TypeScript. Azure and AWS. Distributed system design, CI/CD, operational excellence, and security compliance at enterprise scale.

On the AI side: multi-agent orchestration (built OTTER with 33 MCP tools for automated incident triage), context engineering frameworks (Spected, adopted by 600+ developers), LLM-powered product features (Copilot for Whiteboard), and developer tooling that measures and improves how engineers collaborate with AI. I have built VS Code extensions, Claude Code skills, coding challenge platforms that evaluate AI collaboration quality, and tools that turn codebases into interactive courses. My focus is not on using AI but on building the infrastructure that makes AI useful at scale.

Education

Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology. Master of Computer Applications from Sikkim Manipal University, India.
